At the corner of Petőfi Sándor and Iskola streets is the most beautifully preserved example of the civic houses in the old Úri Street. It was built around 1830. In the cellar there exists an exhibition area and a lecture room. Péter Pál Ottokár’s reconstructed medical surgery of the 1920s is displayed in the study. Apart from the contemporary furniture, the surgical instruments and the medical history collection of the old County Hospital are displayed here. The furniture of the dining room, the parlour, the parents’ bedroom and the children’s room are from the end of the past century and represents rococo and 19th century German middle class style. The richness of the music books refers to the high standard of music performances held in the afternoons and in the evenings. The toys and school supplies are from the beginning of the century. The closed furniture of the rooms contains the material of the local textile collection. Charts representing the architectura of the Szentes civic houses, the life of the Péters and the gardens of the Szentes civic houses are displayed on the verandah, in the hall and in the garden corridor.
